We are currently offering the following studio services in London and Sheffield with Manchester being offered in February 2023 (UK). Our rates below reflect an industry experience of 20 years+ and are in line with the current Musicians’ Union rates. We bring informed and up-to-date pedagogy to all sessions, at all times. All our tutors are Enhanced DBS checked and are committed to upholding the Safeguarding policies of the Independent Society of Musicians and the Musicians’ Union.
Who am I?
I’m David Barnard and I have worked with some of the leading vocalists in the opera world for the last 20 years, in national and international opera houses, festivals and concert halls. I have coached singers and up-skilled pianists, ready for a sustainable and realistic career.
Having the right coach can give you the confidence boost you may need to take you to the next level. If may be a one-off lesson for advice/consultation (away from your primary teacher) or you may want to embark on a radical shift in your approach. My vast experience in peak performance coaching can help you unlock some more of your potential and assist you with what you need.

Where do you hold the London Studio lessons?
I use a couple of studio spaces in London: The Music Studios, Marylebone Lane and the Bluthner Studio, Baker Street.
Do you hold sessions ONLINE?
In very rare circumstances, I will deliver an online lesson where there is no opportunity to meet due to distance or diary clashes. In this case, I will offer a reduced rate for the lesson.
How long have you been a vocal coach/teacher?
I have been vocal coaching in various capacities for 20 years. In the last 10 years, I have coached at national and international opera houses and in leading universities and colleges in Australia, UK and Europe. I have many successful students in jobs around the world including pianists, now working as opera repetiteurs/collaborative pianists/accompanists.
How do you work with students? What is the focus?
Regardless of if you are a pianist, vocalist, or business professional, I will work on building core strength, your breathing and approaches to your posture. This undermines all the work I do. We will work on these aspects in every lesson and build the concepts into how you approach the task at hand.
Do you hold studio teaching in other parts of the UK?
YES! We offer vocal coaching and business packages around the UK, Europe and Australia – please contact us to discuss your plans.
How do I pay for the studio services?
Payment via cash or card (including, AMEX) is made either at the beginning or end of the session. For larger business packages, an invoice will be issued prior to the event.
